With inventive contemporary bar dishes and amazing drink selections, Nativo in Highland Park provides one of the best Mexican-style happy hours in town. Cucurrucu, a tequila reposado, grapefruit soda, hopped grapefruit bitters, and Pamplemousse cocktail best savored on their vibrant outside patio, pairs well with their mole-covered tater tots and street-style tacos. Tequila and mezcal flights are also available, with your choice of three drinks. However, if you wish to partake, we recommend upgrading to the "ofrenda" upgrade. Seasonal citrus, chapulines, sal de gusano, a piece of Oaxacan cheese, salty sunflower mix, and the kitchen's house-made sangria to chase your drinks all included in the extra $6 price.

You may be familiar with this location as the fabled plant-based Mexican restaurant that took Los Angeles by storm. Gracias Madre also has a nice range of mezcals, in addition to their excellent vegan nachos and delectable chicharron tacos (made with oyster mushrooms, of course). Gracias Madre has plenty of espadn, raicilla, and sotol, among other things. If you're looking for a signature cocktail rather than a single shot, the Oaxacan Old Fashioned is a great choice: Tequila reposado is mixed with spicy mezcal before being topped off with rich mole bitters and heirloom corn.

If a Sunday Mexican-style brunch with craft beers sounds like the perfect afternoon to you, Xelas is the place to be. This Boyle Heights bar boasts a huge range of California and Mexican beers, as well as some fantastic drinks to pair with any of their delectable culinary options. The popular mid-century modern patio of this Frogtown eatery is ideal for enjoying one of their Sonoran-style carne asada tacos. Las Perlas
Las Perlas is a softly lit Oaxacan cantina in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles that's ideal for casual dates and drinks with friends who share a passion for mezcal. The Echo Park bar started off as a drink pop-up before settling into its lovely Sunset Boulevard home in 2019, which has a brick-lined rear terrace with vegetation and bright lights. The beverages are equally as stunning, such as the popular mezcal cocktail, which combines tomatillo, serrano chile, and lime flavors with mezcal, as well as a crunchy tortilla and serrano salt rim. If you're looking for a citrusy cocktail with just the right amount of sweetness, try their layered tequila tonic, which combines Earl Grey, raspberry, and lime flavors with tequila blanco for a zesty drink with just the perfect amount of sweetness.
