Today’s topic is significant. There is a proposition from California state to take away consumers' right to choose. We will talk about why you should say “No” to the flavored tobacco products ban referendum Proposition 31 on the ballot this November is a referendum on Senate Bill 793, which prohibits the sale of flavored tobacco products in the state. In 2020, the Legislature enacted SB 793, which the governor signed into law. It makes it illegal for "a tobacco retailer or any of the tobacco retailer's agents or employees, to sell, offer for sale, or possess with the intent to sell or offer for sale, a flavored tobacco product or a tobacco product flavor enhancer" and levies a $250 fine for each infraction.
Say "No" in the flavored tobacco products ban referendum because it doesn’t make sense
Despite the fact that the law prohibits the sale of flavored tobacco products to anybody, regardless of age, lawmakers dubbed it the "Stop Tobacco Access to Kids Enforcement Act." They stated it was necessary to prevent underage tobacco usage because only children, presumably, enjoy flavored products. To be clear, no one wants youngsters to smoke or vape, but selling or giving tobacco and vape products to anybody under 21 is already unlawful in California.
Say "No" in the flavored tobacco products ban referendum because it's blatantly hypocritical.
At the same time that California is decreasing marijuana taxes and discussing measures to decriminalize psychedelic substances in the Legislature, it is outlawing menthol cigarettes, flavored smokeless tobacco, and other flavored nicotine vaping devices that do not even include tobacco. Those non-tobacco vaping goods, mind you, were assessed to be "95% safer" than smoking by an "expert independent evidence review" issued by England's public health department.
Say "No" to the flavored tobacco products ban referendum because it takes your right to decide for yourself
Californians are intelligent enough to make this decision for themselves. Our state already has one of the lowest smoking rates in the country. In fact, California has the lowest adult cigarette consumption rate of any state save Utah, where the state's predominant religion prohibits smoking. Only God's dread can make you smoke less than we do in California. Even before the ban, youth vaping was already down 59%, and youth smoking rates were at an all-time low of 1.9%.
